Essay

I’m choosing Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner for the film to make a title sequence. The film is considered by many as one of the greatest science fiction films. It has been regarded as the quintessential cyber punk film, which is a sub genre of sci-fi that incorporates aesthetics of crime dramas of the early 1900s known as neo noir or film noir. The film is set in the dystopian future mega city of Los Angles. The tone is dark and over cast either raining or snowing. There is only one instance of natural light. Most of the color through the film is from neon street signs that are everywhere in the crowded hyper urban environment, which I think will be interesting to translate into a film title. Also, the technology of film is extremely fascinating. There's a scene where Harrison Ford's character inserts a photo to a machine and he is able to zoom in without loosing quality. I think this would be a route to take too.

The third rectangle will be the area that is major point.

Start to zoom into that point of interest

Using this to introduce the title of the film and to introduce the rectangles. Probably will be the only use of rectangles for text.

The title becomes more clear.

Rectangles focus on a specific area again.

The area in the middle rectangle zooms in to fill screen. Also, this is the point where the second image begins to appear. I think through opacity. When one image fades the next image appears at the same time. looking to have a seamless transition.

More of the next image is visible.

After the image is at full opacity, the image will begin to come into focus.
