Bethany Chan and Scott Louis: Motion Designer Presentation Richard Greenberg

RICHARD GREENBERG R/GA

“I had the opportunity the other day to screen a reel of Richard’s work, and I was amazed at the uniformly high quality of his work. The fact is, he’s the only guy around whose work I wish I had done.” —Saul Bass, Los Angeles, October, 1994

Richard Greenberg is a motion graphics and title designer from Chicago. Greenberg holds a BA in industrial design and MFA in graphic design and has taught at IIT and the University of Illinois in Chicago. Greenberg founded R/GA with his brother Robert in 1977. R/GA is an advertising and marketing agency based in New York that focuses on design and technology. Much of the work utilizes a mix of typography and video sequenced together to create dynamic/unique compositions. Much of the typographical work usually moves through the space and scenes. During Greenberg’s time at R/GA he worked on titles and visual effects for movies such as The Untouchables, Predator, Superman, Alien, and more. R/GA has won a number of awards including Digital/Interactivity Agency of the year (multiple years) in addition to an Academy award.

Following his R/GA period, he moved on to form Greenberg/Schluter with partner Bruce Schluter and worked on The Matrix, Independence Day, and a number of other films.
