Danny Yount

Danny Yount

Danny Yount is a self-taught designer that combines photography, close-up video, and motion graphics to create opening credits for works such as Six Feet Under, The Strain, and The Reaping. Some other works included Iron Man 1 and 2 which used industrial design to create a more technical look. It’s individual pieces that are taken apart help create a bigger space and have our eyes wander around the canvas. He also did Iron Man 3 which took on a much different approach with a more comic book look as the screen is cut into sections with a simple color palette. Another work includes Sherlock Holmes which he took scenes from the movie and made them to look as though they were in the newspaper. Using photography, Yount went to a printing press museum to get a newspaper that looked like it was actually from the setting of the movie. Overall, in an interview he explains that the main process that he used was creating moving sketches that he would pitch to the directors to figure out which way he would go. Having multiple meetings with directors even though they were short helped him create amazing opening and closing credits.
