Charlie Bucket, a twelve year old boy works as a newspaper boy to provide for his family who lives in poverty in a small house. He, along with every other person in his town, loves Willy Wonka's magical and exotic candy. Willy Wonka's Factory closed its doors due to spies dressing up as workers trying to steal Wonka's candy recipes.

One day, it is announced that Wonka has hidden five golden tickets in his chocolate wonka bars and the gates to the chocolate factory will be opened to the five winners for a tour. However, only one person will go home with a lifetime supply of chocolate. As the tickets are being found, Charlie’s hopes to find a ticket diminish, he cannot afford to buy as many chocolate bars as the other children. One day, as he is walking home from work, he finds some money and decides to buy another Chocolate Wonka Bar that is then revealed to contain the last golden ticket. When that is revealed, a strange man who also approached the other winners approaches him and offers him a fortune if he steals a candy gobstopper so that he can claim its formula as his own. When the gates open, Willy Wonka greets the winners and welcomes them in.

As he is giving them the tour, the winners realize that the factory is full of magical wonders. Although Wonka warns them to follow his rules, one by one, the children disobey and end up hurting themselves. They are then taken away by Wonka's extraordinary workers named oompa loompas. Every child is given a gobstopper to try and they all save it with the intention of giving it to the strange man who offered them a fortune. Charlie, who is the only one that finishes the tour, decides to give back his candy gobstopper to Wonka. It is then that Wonka declares him the winner and gifts him the entire factory.
