Renton meets Diane, a 14 year old girl snuck into bar. He spends the night with her not being aware of her age. Waking up to her parents at the dining table, they are chill with no care about the situation their daughter is in.
Renton resurfaces from the dirty bar toilet after recovering pills he dropped. The scene transported him into a huger body of water as he swam to the bottom to joyfully find the pills.

In Edinburgh Scotland where trains pass and heroin is easily accessible, Trainspotting captures the life of heroin addict, Renton, and his four best friends: dimwitted and also heroin addict Spud, clean-cut Tommy, con man Sick Boy, and the violent Begbie. The three navigate life together as the main character, Renton strives for sobriety and a way out. Needing to steal and rob to support their addiction, they cause a lot of trouble with the law and find themselves on seperate but demanding paths. Despite Renton, Spud and Sick Boy believing there is no better feeling than being high, Renton truly does want to quit using, or so he tells himself. The struggles Renton have in trying to get clean are presented. He may feel that other priorities in his life may help him, such as the love at first sight feelings he has for Diane, who he sees across a nightclub room but who may not be all she appears at first glance. Renton probably realizes that he can never get clean in his current environment, which includes hanging around with Spud, Sick Boy, Begbie, Allison and Swanney, but getting out from their influence may not be as easy as just physically leaving.
