A Team of astronauts are on Mars but during their mission in Mars was an unpredicted storm and had to abort the mission. During the evacuation, the line was cut, and Mark Watney was blown away from the storm. The life sensor detects no life from Mark and assumed he was killed from the storm and so the team left Mars. However, Mark survives and now must have an ingenious way to get to the next schedule for the team to do a rescue mission which takes a full four years to get to Mars. Mark as a botanist, he manages to cultivate potatoes to last longer then what was intended for. NASA soon learned that he was still alive by certain messages that Mark created to let them know that he is still alive. NASA expected that he only has 900 days until he runs out and plans a way to rescue him is by recycling around for another four years. After a few months passes for Mark, his food supplies were sustaining and growing more as well until his crops got destroyed and can no longer produce more food and only can use out are left from it. He figures that it be 300 days until there all gone and so he must eat small amount to last longer in Mars. After the seven months losing a lot of weight, grown a beard and facial hair with rotting teeth. He felt hopeless to his survival and rescue. When the team finally got close to Mars to resume him, Mark planned a way to fly high enough to arrive to the ship and by small chance made it and he can finally come home
