This depicts the drug (opioids) that he is addicted to.

Here I wanted to show the relationship he has with his sister. His sister in a way is his only care giver and the state he is in has taken over the action of parenting of his kid.

In this picture you see him after the fact that he has consumed heroin that he so badly needed. I thought that this was so interesting because it shows how he acts “normal” when is on the drug.

In this scene you can really tell how dependent he on the drug. After few hours he is encountering withdrawals.

I showed this picture to show the embarrassment he himself holds towards himself. You can tell his daughter is the world to him but this drug has built a wall in between them.

This drug has taking over Seths body and mind that he will even be willing to throw his own sister into danger just so he can get the fix that he needs.

I wanted to have a picture of the mom because in the movie she was always saying how much of disappointment her son was.

Finally, Katie can no longer deal with taking care of her brother Seth so finally she decides to cut him and make deal with addiction by himself.

Essay

This movie tells the story of a sister of an addict who is addicted to heroin and how this drug has brought a number of tribulations that have caused great pain to the family and him. Right away you are introduced to the tension that lies within the family. Katie (main character) fights to try and keep her brother Seth part of the family and making sure he doesn’t fall into his addiction again. At the time Katie was throwing a surprises party for her boyfriend but that all changes when she was asked to go pick her brother and his daughter up on the way of picking up the cake. What seemed to be an easy trip from point A to B, took a turn when upon arrival Katie started witnessing subtle signs that show her brother has started using again. Listening to her gut feeling she confronts him and demands he seek treatment. Though he agrees they run into many problems trying to enlist him into any clinic. During bouncing from clinic to clinic trying to find one that would accept and begin treatment on him, Seth falls into a dreadful withdraw. Katie worried that she might witness her brother die infant his daughter in the back seat makes a drastic decision. Listening to her brother she goes to this eerie place where all and any type of drug is sold. Doing the unthinkable she supplies her brother with what she’s been trying to drive away from all day. Sickened on the way her brother acts after using the drug and speaking with her family she no longer can take the endless feeling of drowning in his problems and decides to cut the tie to let him free and have him deal with his own problems as a grown adult.
