In American Psycho, the main character (Patrick Bateman) constantly battles with his coworkers over who is the best in what they do, working on Wall Street in the business sector. Their constant one upsmanship and inability to even remember each others names’ is both helpful and detrimental to them. Throughout the movie, Patrick murders different people, from the homeless to prostitutes to random people he meets in a club. He gets a high off it, and throughout the movie becomes more careless, where he kills the wrong person, and a huge investigation steadily makes him more nervous, eventually leading him to a breakdown. Watching this, I saw Patrick’s psyche basically break down just by losing validation from others. We see how fragile his ego and sense of self really is.

This film goes through the thoughts and eventual breakdown of a person who constantly compares himself to others, thinking he's better than everyone. Eventually, he goes through a mental breakdown and sees how everyone sees him, which is his fear, a spineless loser.

still haven't decided on which type to use, i like the serif because it matches more with the time place of the movie (using Superclarendon here) but I also like how sterile Univers looks in my other tests.
