Their daughter Alex gets accepted into her dream University, Bucknell
Her daughter had a paid in full scholarship waiting for her from the town. Until the town decides they would rather use the money to install a pool.
The couple finds out that they don’t have the money themselves to send her to her dream university.
They dont have the heart to break it to her. So there friend suggests starting a casino in his basement, because “The house always wins” in order to pay for their daughters college.
So they start setting up their own Casino in their friend’s basment
The underground Casino is officially open for business.
Their illegal casino becomes a hit with the town's people.
They start to reap the awards and it looks like they will be able to send Alex off to Bucknell University.
The Mayor and the police start to become suspicious because no one is showing up for the town's meetings anymore
The Mayor decides to confiscate all of the money that they had earned illegally.
Things at the underground Casino get chaotic
The Johansen's go and take back the money that the Mayor stole from them.
The Mayor admits to stealing money from the town and gets arrested.
The Johansen's are able to see their daughter off to college. Everyone is Happy.
The House (2017)
The House is a comedy movie that was released in 2017. It follows a couple (The Johansen's) whose biggest dream is to see their daughter Alex off to her dream University in a couple of months. Just as everything is settling into place with their daughter getting accepted into Bucknell University, and the Johansen's are preparing to be empty nesters. Everything is turned upside when the town Mayor decides that they will not be giving out the yearly scholarship award this year, which Alex was chosen for. The Johansen's are in shock as they try to come up with ways so that they will still be able to covers Alex's tuition. They seek a loan and ask for promotions at their jobs, but they have no luck. Things start to appear bleak until their good friend and neighbor, Frank suggests that they should start an underground casino in his basement in order to come up with the tuition money before the summer ends.
So the Johansen's and Frank do just that. Pretty soon their Casino operation is running smoothly and is gaining in popularity with the towns people. The money is coming in and it looks like they will be able to see their daughter off to college after all. That is until the Mayor starts to get suspicious because hardly anyone is showing up at the town meetings lately. The mayor along with one of the town's cops decide to investigate together after they realize that something odd is going on. They follow a trail of clues and eventually make their way to Frank's house where they see the open door and make there way to the basement. They confront Frank and the Johansen's about the operation they're running and the Mayor decides to confiscate all of their money and orders them to shut down the operation.
Everyone wallows around for a couple of days until the Johansen's decide enough is enough. So they along with Alex head to the Mayors office where they find his safe and successfully retrieve their money. As they are leaving they encounter the Mayor and he unsuccessfully tries to stop them. The mayor ends up confessing that he has been stealing money from the town and he ends up getting arrested. The Johansen's are able to keep the money earned from the Casino.
The movies ends with the Johansen's achieving their goal and being able to fund their daughters college tuition.
