The start of the film is a black background with the title which is written in a serif typeface. Which transitions into a dark stage presence of Nina.
In the beginning of the film we see Nina dancing the role of the white swan. Serving as a dream showing what is later going to happen throughout the film. The color scheme this scene contains is black and white, also using light.
Nina’s mom plays a very important role in the film because she is one of the reasons why Nina becomes obsessive in being perfect and pleasing her mother that she is capable of accomplishing her (mothers) dreams.
Nina is so obsessive in becoming a perfect dancer that she starts overworking herself to the point in which he is harming her body.
After all the hardships Nina went through she got the role of both the black and white swan. Now facing pressure from herself, mom, and director to show that she is capable of keeping and fulfilling both roles.
Representation of her paranoia and what she will later transform into. The central idea of the usage of feather and birds connect to the transformation she will go through.
The film also is surrounded by the use of mirrors as to show her transformation/reflection of what he is to become and the evil that will strike. She hallucinates and starts seeing a doppelganger.
More colors are being shown as a form of Nina being rebellious against her mother's form of treating her as a child. In this scene she shows more of an adult phase.
While the show is one Nina shows to be not as well of a dancer for the role of the white swan as she used to be. She fails to show this because the inner dark side is taking over her.
While performing as the black swan she embodies the character as part of her to the point where she hallucinates that she actually turns into the mysterious bird. Finally mastering the role in which she had difficulty with since the start of the film. Almost signifying that she found herself.
She accidentally stabbed herself because of the hallucinations that embodies her but proceeds to perform. Nina's life fades away because she took in the dark side too fast causing her to die. As a result she really embodied the Swan Queen making her “perfect.”
The ending is a transition of Nina into the light. The background is white with black serif letters.
Black Swan, 2010,
Darren Aronofsky directed the 2010 Black Swan movie. In this film they want to show how having a professional career can lead to a life of distruction to one self. This is portrayed by a Ballerina that devoted her life to what she does and that is dancing. Nina Sayers lives with her mother, also once a dance, in a tiny apartment in New York city. She works as a dancer for a company at the New York Lincoln Center, directed by Thomas Leroy, who is holding a production opening of the Swan Lake.
Thomas is hosting an audition to recruit a new person to be the lead of the act. The new lead of the act has to play two roles that are drastically the complete opposites. The force play of the black and white swan from the Swan Lake. Nina is an incredible dancer that fits to perform the role of the white swan and is told from Thomas that in order for her to get cast as the swan queen she needs to learn to let herself dance with emotion rather than technique.
When a new dancer, Lily, arrives she is the total opposite from Nina. Lily is more loose, bold, and confident. Touching upon all the points Thomas told Nina that she needs to work on in order for her to get the role. Nina becomes jealous of those traits and tries overworking herself to fulfill those traits into herself and dance. Tension grows within Thomas, Nina, and Lily as a sort of love casting relation. This causes her to have a crisis about the way she is living her life under the control of her mother and how of a perfect dancer she had to become in order for her to have the lead role. Leading to self harm and shows signs of anxiety and compulsive behavior.
The films shows Nina to be a pure, innocent, and childlike dancer. In order for her to achieve casting the role of the black swan she needs to let go of the white swan and become a more loose, confident, and bold person.

Thesis: Nina needs to learn how to be more loose and confident in order to achieve being the evil spirit that the Black Swan brings out within oneself.
